Before attending the career expo, I thought the trip to the event served no purpose to me since I am just a sophomore in my major with very little experience. Soon as I walked through the doors of the event I was immediately proven wrong. The volume of people in attendance was a great sight in seeing how many students are out networking as well as the number of major airlines willing to actually communicate and offer interviews for internship and full time jobs for the qualified students. Overall my experience was amazing I am more that glad that this is something offered on our campus designated to Embry-Riddle students looking for a steady career.
Along with the experience of walking around the expo and seeing which Aviation companies were in attendance to the career expo I also got the pleasure to meet with AAR Corporation , Southwest Airlines, Enterprise, Delta, United, and American Airlines.? Out of this selection of companies that I spoke with I received excellent information from four of the five companies, even better I was personally handed the opportunity to speak with the Vice President of AAR Corporation in preparation to applying for a possible internship in my hometown Chicago.
This was a great experience that I found interesting and beneficial to my future career path, the effort that was shown by the employers as well as the interest in me based off my energy and personality, specifically after speaking with AAR Corporation. The recruiter enthusiasm and his attempt in getting me in contact with the Vice President of AAR Corporation lead me to believe if I push and keep pushing I can get to where I want to be in life. Now I just have to do my job and follow up with the company and do my research and understand what this company role is in the aviation industry.
The feedback I received was wonderful and very effective to me as a future business woman in the Aviation industry. The quotes below are almost everything I can recall which was basically everything I was told. ?Now is a perfect time to look for internships?, ?don?t just limit myself to on application?, ?Network, and get to know the people in my filed? and ?Internships are a great way to get me one step closer towards my career.? Everything listed are actual words I was told from various business people, these words of inspiration are some words I will not forget. They all played a very special meaning in my search and I will continue to push until and beyond the point of me reaching my success.
